Our story begins, as so many good ones do, with spring break and decisions fueled by alcohol.
We met in 2011 in the BVIs, on a debaucherous Yacht Week trip. Cat was getting her MBA in New York. Will was getting his masters in North Carolina. Will was a Yacht Week skipper. Cat had never sailed before. It was a good week.
What was supposed to be a fling morphed quickly into a long-distance relationship, a joint move to San Francisco, marriage, and dreams of going off on a longer sailing adventure. We found ourselves a couple of jobs, Cat in pharmaceutical consulting and Will in the mapping industry, stuck maps of the Caribbean on our apartment walls, and saved our pennies.
A couple years later, we found ourselves aboard Paradox – a boat we bought sight unseen – and began to travel. Now, we’re hooked and trying to figure out how to make the very few pennies we still have saved last for another season. We’re headed now to Europe, where we are going to drive around for a few months in a sidecar motorcycle.
