We are sitting here on the dock in Marina Pescadero in Puerto Real, Puerto Rico getting ready to do our longest passage yet in the morning. 250 miles. 48 hours. It’s sunset and I’m drinking a rum and tonic after making sure we had dinner prepared for the next two nights. The boat is ready to go and Will, enjoying free wifi, has gone down an internet black hole. It is most definitely the calm before a restless night of sleep anticipating our 5 am alarm clock.
It has been a busy couple of weeks – ones that have been filled with friends in the BVI and a spontaneous trip to Old San Juan. The shenanigans are coming in video form. But as I procrastinate editing them, here are a few photos from the last few weeks.
Jumping off the Willy T
In all of our time in the BVI, how was it possible that we never jumped off the back of the floating pirate ship / bar The Willy T? Inconceivable. Naturally, we had to remedy this. Our friends from San Francisco came to visit. And jump off, we did.
St. John
Turns out, there are a lot of really beautiful and completely secluded anchorages in the south side of St. John. We spent three blissful nights hoping from one deserted anchorage to another. Who knew you could find solitude in the Virgins?
Old San Juan
This was by far our favorite city stop on this trip. We got an airBNB right in the center of town and spent three blissful nights in an amazing loft apartment. The city reminded us a lot of San Francisco. Beautiful architecture, popping colors, great food, and overpriced fancy cocktails.
