Greetings from Martinique! Here I sit, on the bow of our boat trying to eek out internet from land. I’ve been at it for a few hours now, which is better than the last time I tried to upload a video. Yesterday, we dinghied 3 full loads of laundry into town and spent the morning finally getting some clean clothes. Internet and laundry. Two things I definitely took for granted on land.
But back to the point… out latest video! We have been moving pretty quickly since we left St. Martin. It seems like 3 days is our new maximum period of time we can stay in one place. In this video, we take a tour of Montserrat, venturing to the south side of the island that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1997. Then, it’s back to France. We go to Deshaies, Pigeon Island and Les Saints in Guadeloupe. I continue to pretend that I’m french (a delusion that I’ll be sad to shed once we have no more French islands to explore) and Will works on his free diving.
In Les Saints, we finally attempt to eat the lion fish we have been shooting. This took some courage. The spikes are poisonous, so we really didn’t want to get anywhere near them. But we have had so many comments on the blog about how good lion fish are to eat, that we had to try. And although our fillet skills clearly need some work, the fish was delicious! And since they are about the easiest things in the water to shoot, I think we’ll be eating a lot of them.
Hope you enjoy!
